Biking Palmetto Dunes: Beyond the Lagoons
Palmetto Dunes offers some of the most scenic paved paths on the island, but for a truly "neighborly" experience, you have to head for the shoreline during the low-tide window.
The Low-Tide Window: Check the tide charts and look for that four-hour window surrounding low tide. The receded water reveals a stretch of dark, hard-packed sand that functions as the island's most beautiful bike path.
The Route: From Palmetto Dunes, you have a straight shot down the coast toward the shops at Coligny Plaza. It’s a several-mile stretch of uninterrupted ocean views, pelicans, and sea breezes. It’s our favorite way to "commute" to the South End for lunch without ever touching a car key.
